As part of our corporate duty of care and responsibility towards legal requirements, social standards, responsibility towards employees, the environment, customer satisfaction and continuous quality improvement, we define and describe the principles and requirements in the CODE OF CONDUCT.
Not tolerable for Hans Riegelein & Sohn GmbH & Co. KG will not tolerate any discrimination in recruitment, remuneration, access to training, promotion, termination of employment or retirement on the basis of gender, age, religion, race, caste, social background, disability, ethnic or national origin, nationality, membership of employee organisations including trade unions, political opinion, sexual orientation or other personal characteristics. The provisions of the AAG (General Equal Treatment Act) are implemented by us without restrictions. All employees have the opportunity to contact an equal opportunities officer in the company in the event of discrimination in the workplace.
For us, socially and ethically responsible behaviour in the procurement of raw materials is a matter of course. With a view to ensuring a sustainable supply of high-quality cocoa and other raw materials, we see it as our responsibility to actively contribute to the elimination of social injustice and unacceptable environmental destruction. We are therefore committed to sustainable cocoa cultivation in accordance with recognised social and environmental standards and have been certified by the Rainforest Alliance, RSPO and Fairtrade for Cocoa. These are one of the world’s largest sustainability programmes and support small farmers in the countries of origin to improve working conditions and eliminate child and/or forced labour.
Child labour and any form of exploitation are prohibited in accordance with the provisions of the ILO and United Nations conventions and/or national legislation and are not accepted in any way. The use of corporal punishment or physical coercion and verbal abuse is not acceptable. Every employee may exercise the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining without restriction. The applicable regulations and industry standards on remuneration and benefits must be complied with; illegal and unauthorised wage deductions are not accepted.
The company also pursues an anti-bribery and anti-corruption policy that ensures fair treatment of all employees and trading partners. The management thus defines social responsibility and is constantly committed to correct implementation and continuous improvement.
It is also a major concern of ours that the goods produced for Hans Riegelein & Sohn GmbH & Co. KG is produced in accordance with recognised social and ecological standards throughout the entire supply chain. In this context, we have asked our business partners to voluntarily commit to the ‘Code of Conduct’ of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) in its current version as a minimum social standard. Hans Riegelein & Sohn GmbH & Co. KG is authorised to verify this itself in the form of audits and/or to demand the submission of documents confirming compliance.
The labour and social standards defined in the International Labour Organization (ILO) (which are intended to ensure decent working conditions within the framework of the world trade order), the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP) (which are regarded as one of the most important international standards on corporate responsibility and human rights due diligence) and the principles defined in the BSCI are therefore complied with both by Hans Riegelein & Sohn GmbH & Co. KG as well as by our business partners.
